Millennium Park
Creve Coeur, Missouri
Planning Design Studio staff prepared a Master Plan and final design/construction documents for Millennium Park. The 25-acre site was acquired from BJC with the understanding that part of the site would also accommodate required stormwater detention from the hospital complex. A significant portion of the site contains mature vegetation, and Fern Ridge Creek runs through the property. The master planning process included significant community input.
Recreation facilities that were designed include a community playground, softball and soccer fields, picnic shelter, comfort station, perimeter trail, parking, and landscape plantings. Services also included the site and landscape design for Tappmeyer Historic House, which was relocated to this park.
The completed park not only accommodates the site’s stormwater requirements but also retained over half of the existing vegetation on site. The detention pond was one of the first MSD approved facilities that included riparian and raingarden type plantings within the pond.
