Family Sports Park
O'Fallon, Illinois
One of the highest priorities to emerge from the O’Fallon community wide recreation planning process was the need for the City to have an outdoor athletic complex. It was conceptualized to be a community facility with something for everyone, a Family Sports Park. The master plan addressed this issue by dividing the 200 acre site into two distinct areas, one dedicated to tournament quality outdoor sports facilities and the second devoted to a community center and park activities.
The regional outdoor sport facilities consisted of over 20 lighted ball fields for game and tournament soccer, baseball, softball fields with a sports pavilion for participant and spectator control, concessions, office space and storage. The future community center and park area will include an indoor aquatic center, gymnasiums, running track, a fitness center, fine arts, an education center, and community meeting and banquet rooms. The Community Park facilities will include an outdoor aquatic center, 10 acre lake, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, trails and open space. A two mile long greenway and multiuse trail encircles the 200 acre site.
