Central East Side Neighborhood Master Plan

Jefferson City, Missouri

With growing pressure to address the future of an older, traditional neighborhood known as the Central East Side, the city of Jefferson City assembled a team of planning and design experts to develop a master plan. The intent of this effort was to create a plan to guide the neighborhood as it evolves and redevelops in response to factors adjacent to the neighborhood such as the MSP mixed use redevelopment project and potential upgrades to the adjacent Whitton Expressway.

The completed plan now serves as a tool for the City by providing guidance when considering items such as potential redevelopment, capital improvement projects, and modifications to the zoning ordinance and land use plans. The neighborhood is situated adjacent to the Missouri State Capitol Complex and downtown Jefferson City. Project management and planning services were lead by Planning Design Studio staff while employees of Parsons, the planning firm of record.
