Planning Design Studio was been commissioned by the Laclede’s Landing Redevelopment Corporation (LLRC) to prepare a Public Realm Implementation Plan for Historic Laclede’s Landing in Downtown St. Louis, Missouri. The goal of the plan was to provide technical guidance for the upgrade and aesthetic enhancement of the public spaces within the district.

Using a visual assessment of the existing conditions of the Landing’s public realm spaces, including streets, sidewalks, street plantings, site furnishings, street lighting, accessibility and signage, as a starting point, PDS prepared a list of priorities and associated design concepts and cost budgets. Input from members of the LLRC Working Committee was obtained to gain an understanding of the Landing’s community context focusing on understanding the transportation corridors to the rest of Downtown St. Louis.

The final plan included updated guidelines which support and enhance established design themes, and a list of improvement priorities to help the LLRC decide where to initiate the proposed enhancements.
