Vandeventer Streetscape
St. Louis, Missouri
Design and construction documents were prepared by Planning Design Studio for a half-mile streetscape project on an accelerated schedule for this ARRA funded (stimulus) project. Improvements make the corridor more walkable, aesthetic and incorporate “Traffic Calming” measures to address vehicular circulation.
Improvements include ADA accessible walkways that link businesses, a library, school and multi-modal transit center. Urban design elements include pavers, street trees, bollards and new street lights. Permeable pavers were installed over structural soil adjacent to street trees, not only for storm water infiltration, but also for air exchange and to provide a better soil growing media for the trees.
