The Brentwood Parks System Master Plan identified a public desire for the park system to hold more outdoor community events, and identified the site of this newly revitalized community center as a possible venue.  Planning Design Studio explored this potential by evaluating site circulation and access; identifying locations for a mobile stage, vendor booths and food trucks; and recommending permanent parking lot updates that would make it a comfortable event space.

Recommendations included permeable paver parking spaces, landscaped parking islands, a paved pathway that doubles as a sound booth station, and streetscape enhancements along Brentwood Boulevard.  These updates will increase the parking lot’s aesthetics, pedestrian safety and environmental sustainability, while allowing it to transform into a large-scale outdoor public event space.
