CONFLUENCE TOWER INTERPRETIVE LANDSCAPE

VILLAGE OF HARTFORD, ILLINOIS

Client

Village of Hartford

Planning Design Studio created this interpretive landscape for the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower, an institution commemorating the famed explorers’ departure westward from nearby Camp River Dubois.

The three acre site is named for its location near the confluence of the Illinois, Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. This visitor-oriented design includes walking trails, a picnic area with a tensile shade structure, site furnishings and interpretive signage.  The landscape emphasizes native plants, and includes native wetland and prairie plant communities.
