In an effort to elevate the quality of life for their community, Nixa Parks hired Planning Design Studio to evaluate, analyze, and create conceptual designs for four city parks: Community Park, Rotary Park, McCauley Park and The Gardens at Woodfield.  PDS gathered input from the city and park staff, assimilated public feedback from a Capital Improvements Sales Tax Survey, and collaborated with a working committee to formulate suggested improvements.  The master plans were later presented to the community at a public open house.

The master plan’s main feature is the development of Community Park on a previously undeveloped 33-acre parcel.  The new park plan has a series of outdoor multipurpose sports fields which double as community gathering spaces for special events.  The master plan contains picnic areas, multipurpose trails throughout the park, playgrounds, comfort stations, open pavilions and a central concessions facility.
