Job Summary

Planning Design Studio is seeking a landscape designer or registered landscape architect to join our firm. We are an intentionally St. Louis based design practice focused on improving the communities we work in by creating world class outdoor places. Our firm’s culture emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, professional growth and personal expression. We work in a flexible work environment that strives to balance the needs of the firm and the individual. Our studio space, specifically designed by us, is in Maplewood, Missouri, a historic suburb of St. Louis which is home to the nation’s first Green Dining District, and vibrant independent shops that create an exciting and livable community.

 

Job Requirements

We need people with a well-rounded grasp of the fundamentals of landscape architecture and with a strong desire to be involved in projects that move from idea to reality. Technical knowledge and excellent organizational skills are important, as well as being a collaborator and someone who really loves working in teams. Each position is for full-time employment (40 hours per week).​

 

Entry-Level Landscape Architect Graduate applicants should be recent graduates with a degree from an accredited landscape architecture program. For this position, we are looking for the following skills, knowledge and qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, planning, design, and technical skills.

  • Experience with and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), and SketchUp.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

  • Initiative-taker that enjoys a fast-paced work environment that can contribute to achieving successful project completion.

Internship

Landscape Architecture Internship

Position Description
Planning Design Studio (PDS) offers students of landscape architecture the opportunity to participate in paid summer and 8-month internship programs at our St. Louis, Missouri office. Successful candidates will participate in current project work and have the opportunity to work with a group of professionals with significant experience in completing a wide range of project types, including master planning through final design and construction documentation.

 

Our office is located in downtown Maplewood a historic suburb of St. Louis which is home to the Nation's First Green Dining District, and independent shops that create an exciting and livable community. Our firm emphasizes a creative and process-oriented design approach to develop environmentally responsive, sustainable, and exciting community spaces that exceed client expectations.

 

Selected interns will be paid a competitive salary while they are working and will be given the opportunity to interact with all staff members. Internship responsibilities will include assisting with design conceptualization, site inventory, photography, plan production, plant selection, sketching, perspectives, rendering (computer or hand), take-offs, CAD drafting and other varied tasks. The goal of our intern program is to provide students with an opportunity that challenges them and strengthens their skills.
