Planning Design Studio attended the grand opening of the new Chain of Rocks Park located at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge on Sunday, April 14, 2024 - ST. LOUIS, MO
The Chain of Rocks Park grand opening celebration showcased the power of thoughtful planning and design in creating vibrant and inviting community spaces. Through careful consideration of the park's layout, amenities, and natural surroundings, Planning Design Studio was able to create a space that not only serves the practical needs of the community but also fosters a sense of connection and belonging among its visitors.
The park was filled with hundreds of people from both Missouri and Illinois. It was wonderful seeing all of these community members immerse themselves in the history of the bridge along with the enhancements that came to it.
There were many local vendors in attendance providing various activities for the public to enjoy. Food and drinks were provided by Falafel Saha and Destination Desserts. Trailnet led a group bike ride, Big Muddy Adventures offered canoe trips, Yoga Buzz provided a free yoga class, and the Missouri History Museum gave a guided history tour. There was also zine making by Simiya Sudduth and live music from Saint Boogie Brass Band.
The new Chain of Rocks Park includes many features such as new bike/pedestrian trails, an expansive pavilion for group gatherings, and gorgeous open greenspaces. New parking and portable restrooms were also included for visitors' convenience.
It was a true pleasure getting to see all of the happy faces at Chain of Rocks Park and we can't wait for more celebrations like this!
