On February 8th Scott and Noel attended the 2019/2020 St. Louis Chapter ASLA Awards Celebration. As Trustee of the St. Louis Chapter, Scott presented an update on the latest news from ASLA National and helped to present some of the design awards to firms.
One of the awards presented that evening included the Civic Stewardship Award. It was given to the Missouri Association of Landscape Architects (MALA). MALA is a statewide organization that advocates for landscape architects to help protect
. Accepting the award were several of the MALA board members including Rusty Saunders, President, Randy Mardis, Vice President and Scott Emmelkamp, Treasurer. Scott has served on the MALA board as Treasurer since 2006. Noel attended to show his support for MALA as a member of the Missouri Professional Licensing Board. Noel wrote a support letter for the nomination of MALA for the award.

The Civic Stewardship Award recognizes organizations, public agencies, institutions, not-for-profits and individuals who have exhibited stewardship of the natural resources, communities, landscapes and built environments of the St. Louis Region. Contributions of those recognized by this award have spread the word about landscape architecture. Past recipients of this award include Great Rivers Greenway, the Open Space Council, Forest Park Forever, STL Design Week, Tower Grove Park, Urban Harvest and Trailnet, among others.
