PDS Plants Roots in Springfield
Planning Design Studio was recently selected as the Project Manager for the Springfield-Greene County Park Master Plans project, which includes the development of five new master plans for Fassnight, Grant Beach, Sequiota, Silver Springs, and Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Parks. This large-scale project will involve extensive community engagement to create plans that reflect the community’s vision while addressing the future needs of each park.
To spend as much time as possible working alongside City staff and getting to know the Springfield community, our team has established a temporary office in Springfield for the early stages of the project. Being present in the community allows us to collaborate more closely with City staff, participate in local events, and hear directly from the people who use and care about these parks.
So far, we have attended the Japanese Fall Festival, where we had the opportunity to meet with community members and share more about the project. We are also looking forward to attending the Garden Gala, where we will have another opportunity to connect with the community and hear what residents envision for the future of Springfield’s parks. Our first public meeting will be held on October 14, providing a more formal opportunity for community members to learn more about the project, share their ideas, and help shape the future of these five parks.
