On December 9th, Scott Emmelkamp, ASLA and Scot Talbert presented virtually at the Missouri Parks and Recreation Mini Conference. The session was called “Park Facility Assessments 101: A ‘How To’ Guide”. The presentation included guidelines for completing park facility assessments using a park assessment form developed by Planning Design Studio. Case studies highlighting existing conditions that were assessed from several park systems were presented as well as how EXCEL’s pivot tables can help manage all of the data that is part of a master planning effort. Participants were actively engaged in the presentation by responding to online polling questions that were included in the presentation. The live results of the polling questions were discussed during the presentation which provided an example of how polling can be effective even during virtual events.
