On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Great Rivers Greenway and the City of Cottleville hosted a public open house at the Harvester Lions Club to present the two final alignments of the Baltic Creek Greenway North Area Study, which have been narrowed down by residents and various stakeholders. The master plan was developed by Planning Design Studio, a landscape architecture and design firm, in collaboration with TWM, Inc., Shockey Consulting, T2 Traffic & Transportation, and Quigg Engineering, Inc.
For those unfamiliar with the project, the Baltic Creek Greenway will span the entire length of Baltic Creek—beginning near the Saint Charles Community College, crossing Pitman Hill Road, and weaving through residential neighborhoods along Towers Road. As the Mid Rivers area continues to grow with new apartments, restaurants, and retail, the greenway is designed to provide residents and visitors with safer, more convenient access to these amenities. The greenway also connects to the Dardenne Greenway, which extends past Saint Charles Community College and into the O'Fallon community. The connecting greenways will allow safer and more efficient transportation methods for non-vehicle users from one community to the other.
More than 30 community members attended the open house, offering input on their preferred greenway alignment. While each proposed alignment offers a distinct route, they share common features, including stretches through wooded areas that provide a scenic, peaceful experience for walkers and cyclists. Both alignments also connect to Mid Rivers Mall Drive, which will serve as a key segment of the completed greenway. The main differences lie in their proximity to homes and shopping areas—factors that will continue to inform the planning process.
The final alignment has yet to be selected. To read more about the Baltic Creek Greenway and provide input, please visit Great Rivers Greenway's webpage Baltic Creek Greenway: St. Charles Community College to Katy Trail - Great Rivers Greenway
