Fillmore Park Ribbon Cutting

On July 1, 2017, the City of Kirkwood held a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the completion of the Fillmore Park renovations. Planning Design Studio attended the event as the design team leader and landscape architect for the project. The event was also attended by Kirkwood’s park committee and mayor, local park maintenance volunteer groups, and many of the surrounding residents. The project began in 2014 when Kirkwood hired PDS to lead a park master planning effort and again in 2016 to develop construction documents for the park, both funded by a Municipal Park Grant. The renovations to the park feature a new pavilion, which reflects the architecture of Kirkwood’s iconic train station, a new playground area, an accessible loop trail, new site furnishings, fences, decorative park signs, and attractive landscaping.
