At Planning Design Studio, we take pride in being active members of the communities we serve. Beyond our planning and design work, we actively participate in local initiatives that foster sustainability, education, and community connection.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Principal Scott Emmelkamp joined volunteers, environmental advocates, and community leaders for a tree planting event along the Christy Greenway in St. Louis County, Missouri. Organized by Forest ReLeaf of Missouri in partnership with Great Rivers Greenway, the event was part of a broader initiative to promote sustainability, enrich urban green spaces, and strengthen community engagement with nature.
The day's efforts focused on planting native trees along Christy Greenway—a beloved trail and recreational area that serves as an essential green corridor for local residents. This project supports long-term ecological health by increasing tree canopy and biodiversity, while also enhancing the beauty and accessibility of the space for public enjoyment.
The tree planting event was more than just a service project—it was a powerful example of collaboration between local leaders, environmental organizations, and residents who care deeply about the future of their neighborhoods. Through shared efforts like these, the community is not only creating greener, healthier environments but also inspiring the next generation to take action for the planet.
